'Vivah': A tough task for Sooraj Barjatya

The director reveals that the Shahid-Amrita love story begins only after they get engaged.

Even as audiences await Sooraj Barjatya's film 'Vivah', to be released in November, they expect the magic of 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Hum Aapke Hai Kaun' to be repeated. The maker, however, confesses, "'Vivah' is my most difficult film till date."

He says the film traces the love story between Amrita Rao (the damsel from Madhupur) and Shahid Kapur (the young lad from Delhi) that begins only after their engagement.

"Normally a film follows the concept of a-boy-meets-girl. They fall in love by the time the film reaches the interval. Here, a couple meet, get engaged and then fall in love." He adds, "I had to delve deep into the characterisations as Shahid and Amrita get to know and undersatnd each other."

Sooraj's films have always been benchmarks of happy cinema and have set the trend for love stories without villains. He agrees, "A renowned filmmaker once asked me, 'Why do people in your films smile so much?' That's because I have seen life that way," he admits. What motivated the maker most was its theme.

"Love is a beautiful feeling and in the face of adversity, it's the strongest. Every time I would narrate this script to someone, they'd share the experiences of their magical courtship days!" he ends.

amrita u r a good grile.mai ne tumhara nam apni grilefrind ko deya howa he (poonam).agar ap lahore ma hote to mae ap se shadi karwa leta.i like shahid mare kazan mujehe shahid bulate han shahid k sath tumahre jore boht achi lagte ha ho sake to shadi shahid se karwana ok vivah movie is so good mae boht dafa dekhta hoon.
