Rajshri Productions has been one of the pioneers in family entertainers for decades and for its blockbusters. The illustrious banner makes promising return this year with their new offering 'Vivah'. Prolific and enormously talented Sooraj Barjatya directs this melodramatic family entertainer that is embellished with piously delivered theme of marital bonds. 'Vivah' meaning "marriage" is a love story of two wannabe lovers and their journey from engagement to marriage. 'Vivah' has the desired family oriented ingredients that have been the trademark of Rajshri. Sooraj Barjatya's fixation for on-screen name "Prem" continues with this film despite the fact that his last two films 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' and 'Main Prem Ki Diwaani Hoon' failed to impress audiences. After Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, it's time for Shaahid Kapoor to be "Prem" and he is paired opposite Amrita Rao. It was the musical magic of Ram Laxman in 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' that produced magnanimous results but this time experienced campaigner Ravindra Jain holds the baton. Ravindra Jain was the first choice in Rajshri Productions for many years and has delivered brilliant music in its films like 'Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se', 'Chitchor' and 'Geet Gaata Chal'. The music of these films holds the freshness and promise of healthy family entertainer from. The veteran music composer has been a cult figure in Bollywood and he is back with another fine set of soundtracks in 'Vivah'. Ravindra Jain has also penned the lyrics of the film that signifies the relevance and significance of relationships and marriage in life. 'Vivah' has ten original soundtracks in the mould and framework of typical Ravindra Jain style of music and can be heard on Sa Re Ga Ma HMV.
DO ANJAANE AJNABI: The soft titillating beats of "Santoor" with fine display of tabla loops and violin chorus set pace for the lovable duet "Do Anjaane Ajnabi". A pure listening delight for Ravindra Jain music lovers, as the slow pitched music forms the backdrop of this traditionally delivered love song. Udit Narayan along with Shreya Ghoshal make the best use of simply written lyrics that emote the sentiments of innocent lovers. The song is about two unidentified strangers falling in love in their dreams of paradise. The musical style may sound outdated in the present context but this has been the hallmark for long. It will have more acceptance from family audiences then among teenagers as it is breed apart from modern style of music. Ravindra Jain's music still hold the same depth and intensity that it had in 70's and 80's with meaningful lyrics that lift the spirits of the song.
HAMARI SHAADI MEIN: If it's Rajshri film then there has to be marriage celebration! This time its boy from Delhi singing out his heartfelt sentiments for his lady love "Poonam", a girl from Madhupur in the soundtrack "Hamari Shaadi Mein". Babul Supriyo sings with full delight as the song is an eager anticipation for the marriage with the boy showing his eagerness and restlessness. Shreya Ghoshal holds the mike and sings feminine sentiments with equal zest and fervor and coordinates well with Babul's voice. This is male dominated song with Babul singing major part and Shreya singing in the concluding part. Ravindra Jain's music has the Punjabi folk music that has been used frequently in Yashraj films like 'Kabhi Kabhi', 'Mohabbatein' etc. Its music flair reminds of Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh playful soundtrack "Tere Phoolon Jaisa Rang" ('Kabhie Kabhie') and Rishi Kapoor- Sridevi lovable song "Sheharon Mein Shehar Suna Hain Delhi" ('Chandni'). If choreographed beautifully then it will be a visual treat with chirpy lyrics giving the desired boost to the song.
JAI GAURI MAA: The colors of devotions sprinkle with flair as "Jai Gauri Maa" is worshipped in the traditional "Aarti" way. The song is a tribute of devotion and commitment where the girl humbly prays for desired life partner to "Jai Gauri Maa". It's brief but still penetrative song rendition as Pamela Jain sings it with vocal finesse to evoke the feel of spiritualism in listeners.
KAL JISNE JANAM YAHAN PAAYA: The two least heard but immensely talented playback singers sing the feel of "parenthood" in enormously melodious soundtrack "Kal Jisne Janam Yahan Paaya". Kumar Sanu and Suresh Wadekar show the rules, principles and affections of responsible and lovable parents with their vocal excellence. Kumar Sanu sings about the boy's upbringing from primary school to college whereas Suresh Wadekar emotes out the girl's upbringing from childhood to adulthood. Ravindra Jain's lyrics simply present these innocent sentiments with tuneful beats of "Ek Din Tum Bahut Bade Banonge" ('Aankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se'). Like all Rajshri family oriented songs, it attracts listeners. Kumar Sanu and Suresh Wadekar illustrate their magical touch with fine control over voice modulation and like Ravindra Jain show signs of significance comeback.
MILAN ABHI AADHA ADHURA HAI: The sweet "n" sour romantic vibes of soulful communion between lovers and their lovable advances sparkles in the soundtrack "Milan Abhi Aadha Adhura Hai". The number has the traditional feel of 70's and 80's where films like 'Aankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se' and 'Geet Gata Chal'made strong impact. The song completely belongs to Ravindra Jain style of music with dependable Udit Narayan and melodious Shreya Ghoshal singing out with style. Once again it has the feel of traditional Bollywood style duet that has been prominent during the past few decades. The lyrics are literary profound with words like "Mann Ka Mayura", "Prem Madhuri" and "divya vatavaran" giving strong touch of eternal love. The soundtrack will attract listeners who have taste of traditionally pure Bollywood music.
MUJHE HAQ HAI: Slow, sentimental but submissive confirmation of lovable sentiments by a lover towards his beloved makes impressive moves in the soundtrack "Mujhe Haq Hai". It's Udit Narayan and Shreya Ghoshal again singing for the wannabe couple in soft and somber mode. This time the tempo of the song is low with fine display of violin chorus, flute, sitar and tabla loops emoting out sentiments. Udit Narayan delivers his finest performance with optimum voice modulation and pitch variation that matches the situation. Shreya Ghoshal delivers another good performance by emoting out at regular intervals with sauntering pace. The soundtrack has been used as promotional number that will positively play significant role in the film. Ravindra Jain's conventional styled music gives it a vintage touch and brings memories of all time soulful hit numbers like "Aankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se", "Tu Jo Mere Sur Mein" and "Jab Deep Jale Aaana".
O JIJI: The pre-marriage playful events in bride's whereabouts come with mischievous endeavors in the number "O Jiji". A traditional pre-marriage song where wannabe bride is teased and amused by her sisters and friends comes in the voice of Pamela Jain and Shreya Ghoshal. The situational soundtrack that will make promising on-screen impact as Barjatya's have flair for choreographing such numbers.
CHHOTA SA SAAJAN (SAVAIYAA): Suresh Wadekar expresses the sentiments of the father of a lovely daughter who dreams of her marriage in the soundtrack "Chhota Sa Saajan (Savaiyaa)". Aparna Bhagwat sings for the little daughter and this brief song may be used as background number in the film. It brings out the undying bond of love and togetherness between father and daughter with somber musical set up.
RADHEY KRISHAN KI JYOTI (SAVAIYAA): The pure, everlasting and eternal bond of love between Lord Krishna and Radhaji is pure devotion in the soundtrack "Radhey Krishan Ki Jyoti (Savaiyaa)". The devotional number by Shreya Ghoshal is a prayer from a devotee seeking the blessings. After "Jai Gauri Maa" it's another mesmerizing piece of spiritualism in the form of beautiful soundtrack that glows the divine light.
TERE DWAR PE AAYI BARAAT: Barjatya's last few films have the special "baraati" song that proved influential for the subject and "Tere Dwar Pe Aayi Baraat" comes in the same mould. Sudesh Bhonsle's full throated voice sings for "dulha" (bridegroom)'s "baraat" celebrations with traditional carnival zest. The number has been conceived on the tunes and rhythms of "Hamari Shaadi Mein" with band music giving it an ambience of marriage celebrations. It's average number and has been conceived for the occasion. Ravindra Jain makes brief presence with loud rendition of "Vivah, Shub Vivah" in between the song. It has "Barjatya's" stamp of marriage songs that have been enjoyed in their last films like 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' and 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'.
'Vivah' is the first film album of this year that has dared to venture into traditional Bollywood music after loads of westernized albums. Ravindra Jain makes impressive comeback through Rajshri Productions with entertaining musical soundtracks. It will enjoy strong media hype and would get the acceptance from the listeners who love to hear old style music. Overall, it's a winner all the way and will prove to be one of the most successful albums of the year.
